A final development plan for the AC Hotel by Marriott will soon head to City Council for approval.

The Cincinnati Planning Commission approved a final development plan Friday for the $35 million project at The Banks.

This fall, the development team expects to begin construction on a seven-story, 171-room hotel at the southwest corner of Freedom Way and Joe Nuxhall Way.

City Council could approve the development plan as early as next week. Construction is expected to start this fall.

Eagle Realty Group, the real estate subsidiary of Downtown Cincinnati-based Western & Southern Financial Group, will build the hotel and Blue Ash-based Winegardner & Hammons will manage it. Construction at the .88-acre site is expected to wrap up in spring 2017.

The development is expected to feature a 4,800-square-foot, street-level space designated for a retail or restaurant tenant. It will also have a four-story video board installed on the east side of the hotel facing Great American Ball Park.

The Urban Design Review Board reviewed three presentations from developers about hotel construction and design plans and signed off on changes last month.
